BECOMING A WSL MEMBER

Current active members recommend candidates for membership in the WSL each year (deadline date: March 1). Active members, in addition to a financial commitment, are required to choose an educational or service placement each year and also do placement hours for our two largest fundraisers, the Jewel Ball in the fall and the Designer Showhouse event in the spring, a minimum commitment of approximately 20 hours total. After eight years of active service, members may choose Associate status, which is strictly a financial commitment.

General Meetings, which include a program and social time as well as a short business session, are usually held in the daytime on the second Monday of each month, September through May. There is at least one evening meeting each year, and efforts are made accommodate holidays, etc. Attendance at two General Meetings per year is required.

After being invited to membership in the Women's Symphony League, a New Member candidate must attend an orientation session with one of her sponsors. After that introductory meeting, she may choose to join by completing membership forms and paying dues.

New Members are transitioned into the group throughout their initial year of membership. New Member social events provide opportunities for getting to know one another while learning details of the vast array of WSL projects.

Are you new to the Austin area and you were involved with the Symphony League in your former city? You may be able to transfer your membership; please contact the Membership V.P. for details. There are many ways to get involved with the Symphony League. The Women’s Symphony League of Austin welcomes your interest. carrie-patty-and-penny.jpg
